Hope and Rebirth
After two years of working remotely, Grid Collective was finally able to present a body of work as part of the
McAuley Place, Naas, Artist in the Lobby programme.
Held over three weeks (16 March to 5 April 2022), the exhibition displayed work on the theme of
Hope and Rebirth. As always, the Grid’s approach was to have a number of individual pieces, along with a collaborative work;
we had hoped to include a sculptural piece, but for logistic reasons, that was not ultimately displayed.
The accompanying brochure detailed the different ways in which
each artist responded to the theme. However, a key element of our practice is to find, and demonstrate, an underlying coherence
to our work when taken as a whole. In the case of Hope and Rebirth, this was expressed through the layout of the pieces on the wall,
the result of discussion, exploration, and finally, instinct. Some adjustments to the plan had to be made when it came to hanging
the works, but the end result was still close to our original intention.
